Glen Tait, Councillor, was first elected to Saint John Common Council in May 2004, after retiring in 2003 after a 34-year career with the Saint John Fire Department, holding the rank of Chief from 1993–2003. For a number of years, he also actively represented the Manangment/Non-Union working group on the City of Saint John Pension Board. Married for 34 years to wife, Dawn (CORBETT), a Nurse Educator, Councillor Tait has two children, Heather and Glendon, both graduates of St. Malachy's High School and UNB.

Special areas of interest include waterfront development, health and wellness, and exploring avenues that will secure additional and innovative funding from the other two levels of government.

Councillor Tait has been an active member of the community for many years, including:

  • Commissioner of Saint John Transit Commission and the Fundy Solid Waste Commission
  • Consultant - all aspects of Fire Management Services including Labor Relations and expertise in fire, investigations, etc.
  • Chair of the Vision 2015 Committee
  • Commttee member of the Police Justice Building Project
  • Trustee, City of Saint John Pension Plan
  • Member, Saint John Waterfront Development Partnership
  • 2003 Honorary Chair of Juvenile Diabetes of Canada
  • 2002 Honorary Chair of the Salvation Army Annual Turkey Drive
  • Past Member of the Westfield Golf Club
  • Volunteer Fundraiser for the Chrohns & Colitis Foundation of Canada
  • Member (past) of the Rocmaura Nursing Home Foundation Board and Loch Lomond Villa Foundation Board
  • Member of the Simonds Lions Club, and previously served as the 1st Vice President.
