street occupancy permit

A street occupancy permit is required when occupying any portion of a city street and/or sidewalk in conjunction with a construction project. Some examples are staging, hoarding, dumpsters, cranes, etc. A street occupancy permit is not intended to provide free parking for vehicles. Street occupancy permits are valid for up to a 90-day period.

A street occupancy permit must be matched with an approved building permit. A street occupancy permit application requires:

  • information regarding the portion of the street and/or sidewalk that will be occupied,
  • if applicable, drawings of hoarding construction and/or alternate pedestrian traffic routes.
