public safety communications centre
The City of Saint John Public Safety Communications Centre (PSCC) receives and dispatches emergency (911) and non-emergency calls for police, fire and ambulance services for the municipality. The civilianized PSCC was established in 1995, as a support function, separate and distinct from the individual service departments – police, fire and ambulance. The PSCC allows for simultaneous dispatch of the different services which ensures the most rapid response to a scene, as well as the proper response to a scene. For example, for a report a motor vehicle accident with injuries, the PSCC Operators would be dispatching all three services at the same time - a police officer for investigation reasons, an ambulance for the injured and fire apparatus for extrication, if necessary, and clean-up of any hazardous fluid. WHEN TO CALL 911
911 is for emergency calls only. To contact police, fire or ambulance services in a non-emergency, please call the PSCC at one of the following seven-digit numbers.
