alternate side parking
Changes were made to the City of Saint John Traffic By-law in August 2003 by the Saint John Common Council which affect on-street parking in the South/Central Peninsula. This is the entire area south of the Saint John Throughway bounded by Marsh Creek and Courtenay Bay on the eastern side, and the Saint John Harbour on the western side.

Alternate Side Parking, a year-round program, means that:
  • 1st to 15th of each month – park on the odd-numbered side of the street
  • 16th to Last day of the month – park on the even-numbered side of the street

Parking

Change-Over Time: Between 6 p.m. and midnight on the 15th day and the last day of each month, move your car from one side of the street to the other.

Why: Alternate Side Parking allows easier snow control or removal when necessary during the winter, and street cleaning and maintenance during the remainder of the year.
