marigolds on main street
There were close to 30,000 marigolds planted by over 1000 students of Centennial, Princess Elizabeth and Lorne Schools.
An organizing committee starts planning in January of each year. The committee is made up of representatives from the three area schools, Leisure Services Department, the Saint John Police Force, Harbour Bridge Authority and Corporate representatives from Halifax Seed, McDonalds, Scotiabank, Xerox, Kent and Century 21. Without the commitment from this group, this event would not have grown to be the success that it has become.
Did you know that the Marigolds on Main Street project has received The Canadian Parks & Recreation Association (CPRA) 2003 Award of Excellence for Innovation. This award recognizes innovation in the provision of Parks & Recreation services in the areas of facilities, heritage and culture, programs, parks, operations and maintenance. |
