Twenty-six Senior Citizen Clubs are available to our citizens 50 years of age and over. Our Senior Citizen Presidents have a wealth of experience and are hardworking-dedicated members with a genuine concern for Senior needs. They encourage the involvement of all Seniors in many activities. The Saint John Clubs are closely affiliated with the New Brunswick Senior Citizen Federation. Seniors of today work diligently paving the road for the Seniors of tomorrow.

The Saint John Leisure Services Department acts as a liaison between the 26 independently operated clubs and the City of Saint John. Club Presidents meet on a monthly basis hosted at the Leisure Services building on Adelaide Street and clerical services are provided.

The Leisure Services Department sponsors 2 special events per year that the seniors look forward to and appreciate. The Annual Seniors Picnic in the summer-fall and the Annual Seniors Winterfest – a mid-winter break for seniors. Some transportation is provided for these events and usually 300-400 seniors attend the event. Each of these sessions consists of bingo games, musical entertainment, a barbecue chicken meal or chowder complete with strawberry shortcake.
